Interests:   Biotic and abiotic processes of diversification, molecular evolution of duplicate genes

To best use and preserve biodiversity, an understanding of where and why it occurs from a global and a genomic perspective is paramount; these are the overarching objectives of my lab’s research. One goal is to study the role of biotic and abiotic factors in evolutionary diversification. Synthesis of patterns of diversity of multiple species that share a common habitat can provide a high-resolution blueprint of biodiversity to be used for prioritization of conservation efforts. Another goal is to evaluate the genetic aftermath of genome duplication in polyploid species, which will contribute to our understanding of how the processes of diversification and specialization occur.
