HTH SCI 1BS0 (BSL-1) is an online, non-credit Health Science Bio-Safety course. The course must be completed by any students, staff or faculty participating in a biology lab involving biological agents such as cells, tissue cultures, bacteria, viruses, blood/bodily fluids, untested mammals that may harbor zoonotics or any of the biological material listed in Health Canada’s Laboratory Biosafety Guidelines.

NOTE: WHEN REGISTERING ON SOLAR, PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU ADD HTH SCI 1BS0 TO YOUR LIST OF COURSES FIRST AS IT IS A COREQUISITE FOR CERTAIN COURSES WITH A LAB COMPONENT.  OTHERWISE, YOU WILL RECEIVE A MESSAGE STATING THAT YOU HAVE FAILED THE PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FOLLOWING COURSES -

If you are registering in the following courses you will be required to take HTH SCI 1BS0:

  • BIOLOGY 1A03, 2EE3, 2L03
  • ISCI 1A24
  • KINESIOL 1A03, 1AA3, 1Y03, 1YY3
  • MOL BIOL 3CC3, 3V03, 4XX3

 

To complete HTH SCI 1BS0 students should -

1. Log-on to SOLAR

2. Add HTH SCI 1BS0 as a Term 1 offering for 2011-2012 registration.

3. Using Avenue to learn (online learning management system), successfully complete the online quiz.                            

Note: If you do not achieve a passing grade, you must retake the quiz.

You must successfully complete the quiz before your first lab.

Failure to comply with these instructions may compromise the ability to complete lab requirements for the course(s) listed above.
