This lab illustrates how data collection method and method of analysis affect the results and their interpretation. In particular, the lab focuses on the effect of sample size (spatial extent). This is important because ecological data are necessarily collected from some areas but these areas differ in size. Differences in size are but one aspect of scale, the issue that we devote much attention to throughout the course.
The lab is a field exercise. Before proceeding, you need to acquaint yourself with introductory materials and instructions. You will need a number of files (in Word and Excel).
