Grant Proposal

During the fall of 2001 the School of Geography and Earth Sciences (SGES) presented a proposal to the Centre for Leadership in Learning to develop a systematic learning process that forms an intergral part all undergraduate programs offered by the School. The goal of the proposed project is to develop a system whereby all students graduating from SGES programs would have thorough substantive knowledge in their field of study as well as appropriate practical experiences and broad set of personal transferable skills including inquiry, numeracy, problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills. The integration of experiential and inquiry-based learning into courses at all levels in SGES undergraduate programmes is in keeping with McMaster University’s goal of creating new and innovative learning opportunities in a student-centred, research intensive university.
