The Departments of Chemistry & Chemical Biology and Physics & Astronomy will offer Physical Sciences@Mac Activities in December and April. Take advantage of our exam periods when teaching labs are free to register your grade 11 and 12 chemistry or physics classes for a series of activities including hands on labs and demonstrations focusing on either chemistry or physics.
If you like, coordinate with a colleague to bring a group for a mix of chemistry and physics activities. Come for an hour or an entire day!
The following activities will be offered during Physical Sciences@Mac Activities from December 7th to December 16th, 2011 and April 10th to April 20th, 2012:
Hands-on Physics Lab (Waves) in our First Year Physics Teaching Lab (60 minutes).
Hands-on Chemistry Lab in our First Year Chemistry Teaching Lab (90 minutes).
Chemistry Presentation (60 minutes).
Demonstration of Magnetic Levitation Model Train and Explanation of Superconductivity (30 minutes).
Soft Condensed Matter and Biophysics Demonstrations (30 minutes).
Particle Physics Demonstrations including Milikan Oil Drop Experiment, Electorn Mass to Charge Ratio Experiement and Muon Detector Demonstration (60 minutes).
Planetarium Show in our newly renovated facility with digital projector (60 minutes, $100 per group max 35 people).
Please use the link above to register your group. You will be asked to specify your preferred dates in order of preference and to select the activities you would like your students to participate in.
