Mobixlab is now offering Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) services through Farncombe  Metagenomics  Facility.  Presently, our NGS service is available for the 454-GS FLX (Roche).  The 454-GS FLX system features long reads (up to 400 bases), exceptional accuracy and high-throughput.  It is well suited for large genomic projects.

Available capabilities include:

•  De novo or re-sequencing of whole or partial genomes
•  RNA-Seq (cDNA libraries)
•  Target re-sequencing
•  Amplicon Sequencing

The target DNA is required to be processed into a DNA library (flanked by specific adapters).  Libraries can be processed by us (for a fee) or by the customer, using the specific kit and manufacturer’s protocol. 

Using the 454-GS FLX, adapters with barcodes (MIDs) are available which enable multiple libraries to be run simultaneously on the same plate/run. 

The expected number of reads varies with the quality of the library and the plate configuration, but on average you can expect:
