Bat PIT Tags

I am a third year Honours Biology & Psychology student currently doing an independent lab study and working towards a thesis in my coming fourth year in the bat lab . Right now, my work includes monitoring the movements of the bats in our colony using a PIT tagging system I recently set up and analyzing vocal changes in silver-haired bats (Lasionycteris noctivagans) experimentally infected with rabies. In my spare time, I like to spend time with friends, read, and/or listen to some good music.

Duration tuning in the Inferior Colliculus of the Big Brown Bat

I'm graduating this year from Honours PNB. I've just started working on my thesis investigating duration-tuned neurons in the inferior colliculus of the big brown bat (Eptesicus Fuscus). These are highly specialized neurons that are thought to be an integral part of the neural mechanisms behind echolocation. My interests outside the lab include going to the gym, cooking (excited to be working at the new Phoenix this year!), MOBA games, and playing guitar.

I am an undergraduate in PNB Bsc., music cognition in my senior year. I’ll be working in the lab for a thesis 2012-2013; categorizing and analysing bat calls and beyond! !

Bat Physiology

I am currently entering my third year of study in the Honours Biology and Psychology program. This year I will be completing an independent lab project, which will be include investigation of the healing rates of bat wing membrane (the patagium) across the year and hormone transference between conspecific big brown bats (Eptesicus fuscus). When I’m not studying or in the lab, I enjoy reading the classics, learning German, exploring, and cycling to other cities in the area.

I am a third year BSc Honours Biology and Psychology student completing an independent lab project and senior thesis in the Bat Lab. My research interests are in physiology, specifically estradiol transfer between big brown bat (Eptesicus fuscus) conspecifics. Outside of the lab and schoolwork, I enjoy hanging out with friends, cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and playing trumpet as a member of the McMaster Marching Band.
