Molecules originally thought to be unique to the immune system are present and functional in the brain. Work in our laboratory investigates the importance of immune molecules to normal brain function, how altered immune function may contribute to the development and maintenance of psychiatric disorders, and eventually, how to best therapeutically target immune genes and their signaling pathway in disease.

  • I am interested in the neural mechanisms involved in the deployment of attentional resources in three-dimensional space in both non-brain injured and brain injured individuals. As well, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)technology, I am interested in the impact of acquired brain injury (e.g., stroke) on residual neurocognitive function and potential resource re-allocation. Lastly, again using fMRI technology, I am interested in the various types of executive dysfunction(s) observed in people suffering from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
