A University of Waterloo study concludes that after graduation, co-op students earn the highest salaries and land the most prestigious jobs compared to non co-op students. The study reports that within the first year of work, co-op graduates earn 15 percent, or $5,075 per year, more than other grads. Utilizing data from Statistics Canada in its Youth in Transition Survey, the study finds that women are more likely to enroll into co-op programs at the college level whereas men at the university level. University co-op students prefer engineering, applied and physical sciences and mathematics, while college co-op students prefer the fine and applied arts and the humanities. Source: IEC Newsletter
