Graduate Studies: How to apply.....
Applications for entry to graduate programs in the School of Geography and Earth Sciences for September 2011 should ideally be submitted by January 15, 2011.
The applicant should complete the official application form on line and click on submit. All official transcripts of their academic record and an application fee of $100.00 CDN. This fee is non-refundable and must be paid in Canadian dollars by means of a credit card payment or a cheque (or world money order) drawn on a Canadian bank made payable to McMaster University. The applicant must also arrange for letters of recommendation to be sent by two instructors most familiar with their work as well as the ‘Confidential Reports’ that may be downloaded from the Graduate Studies website. If English is not your native language, an official copy of your TOEFL score is required. The School requires a minimum score of 580 (or 237 on the computer based TOEFL test) 92 on the internet.
Applications should be done as early as possible, as acceptance is on a competitive basis. The program begins in September. Students are encouraged to apply in sufficient time to meet the scholarship deadlines. University Scholarships are available for which the School will recommend outstanding applicants. An applicant may be admitted conditionally before receiving the degree in progress.
To be accepted for study, the applicant must satisfy the Graduate Committee of the School of Geography and Earth Sciences and the University and must also be accepted for supervision by a member of the School. For further inquiries, please email geograd@mcmaster.ca
