Publications

The Commission is strongly committed to the encouragement of scholarly publication derived from the work of its members and their contributions to symposia. In this respect, the past work of the CMGS is, for example, reflected in the books: Recent Developments in Spatial Analysis (eds. M. M. Fischer and A. Gelis, Springer, 1997); GeoComputational Modelling (eds. M. M. Fischer and Y. Leung, Springer, 2001); and Modelling Geographical Systems:Statistical and Computational Applications (eds. B. Boots, A. Okabe and R. W. Thomas, Kluwer, 2002). We also seek to publish the outputs of the task force groups in thematic issues of international journals like Environment and Planning A, Journal of Geographical Systems, Papers in Regional Science, Geographical Analysis and Geoinformatia which will be facilitated by our strong connections with their editorial boards. The recent examples are the special issue on Modelling Spatial-temporal Patterns (eds. B. Boots and R. G. V. Baker, Journal of Geographical Systems, 2005); and Legends in Quantitative Geography (eds. R. G. V. Baker and R. Stimson, Geographical Analysis, 2008, forthcoming).
