Esri Canada Higher Education Scholarship in GIS

ESRI Canada, the School of Earth, Environment & Society and the GIS Lab would like to recognize an undergraduate student enrolled in advanced studies in geographic information systems (GIS) at McMaster University. This scholarship will encourage the student to pursue further studies and/or a potential career in GIS.

Scholarship Includes:

  • A one-time payment of $2500
  • A three-year term license of Esri’s ArcGIS for Student Use :
    • ArcGIS Online with GIS Professional Advanced User Type and 1000 Service Credits
      • ArcGIS Pro Advanced Named User license
      • Essential Apps: ArcGIS StoryMaps, ArcGIS Enterprise Builder, ArcGIS Web AppBuilder, ArcGIS Dashboards, ArcGIS Instant Apps, ArcGIS Hub Basic, ArcGIS AppStudio
      • Field Apps: ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Survey123, ArcGIS Workforce, ArcGIS QuickCapture
    • ArcGIS Pro Extensions: ArcGIS 3D Analyst, ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst, ArcGIS Image Analyst, ArcGIS Network Analyst, ArcGIS Spatial Analyst and more
    • Premium Apps: ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App Standard, ArcGIS GeoPlanner, ArcGIS Insights, ArcGIS Urban Suite

    • Installation support, software updates and unlimited access to e-learning courses through the Esri Training site.
  • A three-year Professional-level subscription to the ArcGIS Developer Program (ADP), which includes ArcGIS Enterprise for development purposes.
  • Digital copies of select Esri Press Publications including:
    • Python Scripting for ArcGIS
    • Getting to Know Web GIS, 5th Edition
    • Getting to Know ArcGIS Pro, 2.8
    • Spatial Statistics illustrated
  • Two Esri Canada instructor-led training courses
  • Registration for one of Esri Canada’s User conferences
  • A personal and editable profile in the Esri Canada GIS Scholarship Web Portal
  • Eligibility to apply for the Esri Canada Associate GIS Professional Program in their year of graduation

Requirements For Scholarship:

The following criteria must be submitted in digital format:

  • Resume / CV
  • Copy of academic transcript (minimum B+ average in overall GPA – only winner will require official transcript)
  • A poster demonstrating a special project, lab work, or interesting research in a specific setting and its outcomes using Esri’s ArcGIS platform as the focus of the work. The poster submission should be creative, display an appropriate colour scheme and hold the dimensions of 24″ w by 36″ h (portrait orientation).
  • A report or an ArcGIS StoryMap (preferable) that goes together with your poster expanding on the project

Scholarship Application Deadline:

Poster and supporting documentation (transcript: non-official is ok, only winner will require official transcript and will have to create an ArcGIS StoryMap or report) can be submitted on or before April 3rd, 2024 and in digital format only directly to:
