ADVANCING PHYSICAL ACTIVITY KNOWLEDGE AND PARTICIPATION
AMONG CANADIANS LIVING WITH SPINAL CORD INJURY
Based at McMaster University, SCI Action Canada is an ongoing, collaborative endeavour bringing together university-based researchers, knowledge mobilization specialists, support networks, service groups and community members focused on advancing physical activity, knowledge and participation among Canadians living with spinal cord injury.
To develop and mobilize strategies that inform, teach and enable people living with SCI to initiate and maintain a physically active lifestyle.
- To determine the ideal messages and messengers for conveying physical activity information to the SCI community
- To develop evidence-based interventions to increase physical activity participation in the SCI community
- To work with our partners to disseminate physical activity-enhancing initiatives to the SCI community
- To monitor physical activity participation within the SCI population
By 2012, to reduce the number of physically inactive Canadians with a SCI by 20%
