Our Admission Requirements
The application process for the September 2019-2020 academic year is now closed. Generally we start accepting applications in October, with a deadline of December 15 for the following academic year. Applications are still considered after the application process is closed, but opportunities might not be available.
October: Start accepting applications
Mid-December: Application process closes
Following September: Courses start
The Department believes that successful graduate training requires close collaboration between a student and research director on a research project that is of interest to both. Applicants are therefore encouraged (though not required) to correspond directly with faculty members working in areas of interest to you. Our faculty are happy to provide applicants with reprints of recent publications and discuss the opportunities available in their research groups.
The McMaster Graduate Calendar is also an important source of information.
