Med Phys 782: Modern Radiation Biology – Implications for the certainty with which scientific positions are held

Instructor: C. Seymour

Term: 2

Course Outline: Download

  • “Standard” radiation biology makes heavy use of the linear no threshold hypothesis with the attendant received text by Hall. Modern radiation biology makes it extremely difficult to hold to this hypothesis. This provides an interesting case study to help maturing scientists to reflect on the level of certainly with which they can hold “theories”. The primary text to be used will be "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" by Thomas Kuhn
