  • Assignments

Students do a presentation of a Chapter from the standard textbook in Radiobiology. They also provide 5 multiple choice questions from their chapter, a selection of which are used in the final exam. Additional work for 600 level students will be to produce a written critique of their chapter- highlighting where the contents need to be updated. Total for this part of the course is 20%.

The major assignment is to evaluate critically a nuclear related proposal involving either a sensitive environmental development or similar issue. Students are expected to develop arguments for or against the proposal and provide novel alternative solutions. This is worth 40% of the total mark for undergraduates but will count for 50% for graduate students and will involve a debate on the issue open to the department. There is an in-class exam lasting one hr including 20mcqs and 3 short questions based on the lecture material. This is worth 30%. Questions for the graduate course will be more difficult than those chosen for undergraduates.
